Privacy Policy
This policy explains how PingMyThing handles account, service, signal, technical and support data.
Last updated: 9 June 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how PingMyThing (“PMT” or the “Service”), operated by Roy K Hills trading as Sendacom UK (“we”, “us” or “our”), collects, uses, stores and shares personal data.
PMT is a lightweight signal ingestion and visibility service. It allows users to send selected operational signals from checks, scripts, jobs, applications, websites, devices and processes, and to view those signals centrally where possible.
This policy applies to visitors to our website, users of PMT, account holders, people who contact us, and people whose data may be included in signals, support requests, account records or service records.
By using PMT, you acknowledge that we will handle personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for personal data handled directly by PMT is:
R. Hills / Sendacom
Unit A, 82 James Carter Road
Mildenhall, IP28 7DE
UK
Where a customer uses PMT to submit data about its own systems, users, clients, customers or third parties, that customer may also be a controller of that data. In some cases, we may process that data on the customer’s behalf to provide the Service.
3. The types of data we may collect
We may collect and process the following categories of data.
Account and contact data: such as your name, email address, organisation, billing contact, support contact, login details and account settings.
Service and project data: such as project names, project identifiers, token labels, scoped access settings, station names, signal names, sensor identifiers, tags, values, timestamps, configuration settings and dashboard preferences.
Signal data: data submitted to PMT by scripts, checks, jobs, applications, devices, websites or other sources. This may include station identifiers, sensor identifiers, values, tags, timestamps and related metadata.
Technical and usage data: such as IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring pages, access times, API request data, logs, authentication events, rate-limit events, error reports and security events.
Billing and payment data: such as plan, invoice, payment status, billing address and transaction references. Payment card details may be handled by a payment processor rather than stored directly by us.
Support and communication data: such as emails, support requests, messages, attachments, notes, diagnostic information and records of our communications with you.
Website and cookie data: such as cookie identifiers, analytics events, preferences and similar technical information, depending on what is enabled on our website and what choices you make.
4. Data submitted through PMT signals
PMT is designed for small operational signals, not broad personal-data collection.
You are responsible for deciding what data your scripts, checks, systems, devices and users send to PMT. You should keep submitted data minimal and avoid including personal data unless it is necessary and lawful.
You must not submit passwords, private keys, API secrets, payment card data, confidential file contents, health data, regulated data, unnecessary personal data or other sensitive material unless your use has been properly assessed and appropriate safeguards are in place.
Station names, signal names, tags and values may become visible to authorised users of your PMT project or dashboard. You should use opaque identifiers where practical and avoid putting unnecessary personal, customer, system or security information into PMT payload fields.
If you submit personal data about your own users, customers, staff, clients or other third parties, you are responsible for ensuring that you have a lawful basis, have provided any required notices, and have the necessary rights and permissions to do so.
5. How we collect data
We may collect data directly from you when you:
- visit our website;
- create or use a PMT account;
- create projects, tokens or signal views;
- send signals to PMT;
- use the PMT dashboard or API;
- contact us for support, sales or account help;
- pay for a subscription or request billing assistance.
We may also collect data automatically through logs, cookies, analytics tools, security systems, hosting providers, database services, payment processors and other service infrastructure.
6. How we use your data
We use personal data where needed to operate, secure, support, administer and improve PMT.
We may use data to:
- provide and maintain the Service;
- create and manage accounts, projects, tokens and access settings;
- receive, process, store, display and retrieve signal data;
- authenticate users and protect accounts;
- monitor performance, reliability, abuse, misuse and security risks;
- investigate errors, failed requests, authentication problems and service issues;
- provide customer support and respond to enquiries;
- process subscriptions, payments, invoices and renewals;
- send service notices, security notices, account messages and important updates;
- send marketing communications where permitted;
- improve the Service, website, documentation and user experience;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory and contractual obligations;
- protect our rights, users, systems, infrastructure and legal position.
7. Lawful bases for processing
We rely on different lawful bases depending on the purpose of processing.
Contract: where processing is necessary to provide PMT, manage your account, process subscriptions, provide support, and carry out our obligations under the Terms of Service.
Legitimate interests: where processing is necessary for operating, securing, maintaining, improving and protecting PMT, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
Legal obligation: where processing is necessary for tax, accounting, regulatory, legal or compliance requirements.
Consent: where we rely on your consent, for example for some marketing communications or non-essential cookies where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time, although this will not affect processing already carried out before withdrawal.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and Service may use cookies or similar technologies to make the website work, keep sessions secure, remember preferences, understand usage, protect against abuse, and improve the Service.
Some cookies or similar technologies may be strictly necessary for the website or Service to function. Others, such as analytics, preference or marketing cookies, will be used only where enabled and where the required consent or legal basis is in place.
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website or Service works.
If we publish a separate Cookie Policy or cookie settings page, it should be read together with this Privacy Policy.
9. Marketing communications
We may send marketing communications where we are allowed to do so, for example where you have consented, where you have requested information, or where we have a lawful basis to contact business users about relevant PMT services.
You can opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
We may still send non-marketing service messages, such as account, billing, security, legal, support or operational notices.
10. Who we share data with
We may share personal data where necessary to provide, support, protect or administer PMT.
This may include sharing data with:
- hosting, database, network, security and infrastructure providers;
- payment processors and billing providers;
- email, support, communication and ticketing providers;
- analytics, logging, monitoring and abuse-prevention providers;
- professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and insurers;
- government bodies, regulators, courts, law enforcement or other authorities where required by law or necessary to protect rights and security;
- a buyer, successor or prospective buyer if we restructure, sell or transfer all or part of the business or Service.
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
11. Authorised users and project access
PMT may allow account holders or project administrators to grant access to projects, views, tokens, dashboards or signal data.
If you are given access to a PMT project by a customer, employer, client or administrator, they may control what you can see and may be able to change or revoke your access.
Users with access to a project may be able to see station names, signal names, values, timestamps, tags, project labels and related data within the scope of that access.
You are responsible for granting access only to people who are authorised to see the relevant data.
12. International transfers
Some of our service providers, infrastructure providers or support systems may process data outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we will take steps intended to ensure that the transfer is lawful and protected. This may include relying on UK adequacy regulations, appropriate safeguards such as standard data protection clauses, or another permitted transfer mechanism.
Because PMT relies on cloud infrastructure and third-party providers, the countries involved may change over time depending on provider configuration, resilience, support and operational requirements.
13. Security
We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data and the Service against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration and disclosure.
These measures may include access controls, scoped tokens, encryption in transit, storage security, logging, monitoring, provider security controls, backups, edge protection and operational security procedures.
No internet service, cloud platform, database, transmission method or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your own systems, credentials, tokens, PINs, scripts, devices and access links.
14. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data, account status, plan, technical configuration, legal requirements, accounting requirements, backup systems, security needs and operational requirements.
Signal data may be subject to retention settings, expiry settings or deletion schedules. Some logs, backups, billing records, support records and security records may be retained for longer where needed for legal, accounting, security, dispute-resolution or operational reasons.
When data is no longer needed, we will delete it, anonymise it, overwrite it, or otherwise handle it in accordance with our retention practices and legal obligations.
15. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to:
- be informed about how your personal data is used;
- access personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- ask us to delete personal data in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to processing in certain circumstances;
- request data portability in certain circumstances;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the lawful basis for processing, the type of data involved, our legal obligations, and whether we are acting as controller or processor for the relevant data.
To exercise your rights, contact us at support@pingmything.net. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
16. Data relating to customer-controlled use
If your personal data has been submitted to PMT by one of our customers, your employer, your service provider, your IT provider, your website manager or another organisation using PMT, that organisation may be responsible for deciding how and why the data is used.
In that case, we may need to refer your request to that organisation or ask you to contact them directly. We will still handle any request we receive in accordance with our legal obligations.
17. Children
PMT is intended for business, professional, operational and organisational use. It is not directed at children.
You must not knowingly submit children’s personal data to PMT unless you have a lawful basis, appropriate authority and suitable safeguards.
18. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) or another relevant supervisory authority if you believe your data protection rights have been breached.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on our website unless another method of notice is required.
If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users. Your continued use of PMT after the updated Privacy Policy takes effect means you acknowledge the updated policy.
