Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of PingMyThing. They define PMT as a signal visibility service, not a guaranteed monitoring, delivery, archive or control system.
Last updated: 9 June 2026
1. Overview
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of PingMyThing (“PMT” or the “Service”), operated by Roy K Hills trading as Sendacom UK (“we”, “us” or “our”).
PMT is a lightweight signal ingestion and visibility service. It allows users to send selected signals from checks, scripts, jobs, applications, websites, devices and operational processes, and to view those signals centrally where possible.
By accessing or using PMT, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Nature of the Service
PMT is designed to provide operational visibility, not guarantees.
PMT may:
- accept signals sent to its ingestion endpoints;
- process and display received signals where possible;
- show received state, signal freshness and absence or staleness where configured or inferred by the Service;
- allow users to separate projects, use scoped tokens and view selected signal data.
PMT does not:
- guarantee delivery, storage, processing, display or retention of any individual signal;
- guarantee completeness, accuracy, continuity or availability of data;
- guarantee that any signal represents the true state of a system;
- act as a system of record, audit log, legal evidence store or compliance archive;
- provide remote control, remediation, patching, inventory, system discovery or diagnosis;
- replace your own checks, controls, backups, validation, supervision or operational judgement.
A successful API or web response means that a request was received for handling. It does not guarantee that the signal has been durably stored, displayed, retained or acted on.
3. Eligibility and authority
You may use PMT only if you have the legal authority and technical authority to do so.
If you use PMT on behalf of an organisation, customer, client, employer or other third party, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on their behalf and to submit signals from the relevant systems, services or processes.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of PMT complies with all applicable laws, contracts, policies, permissions and customer obligations.
4. Account access and credentials
You are responsible for protecting your account, tokens, PINs, access links, magic links, exported configurations, API URLs and any other credentials or access mechanisms used with PMT.
You must not publish, expose or share PMT credentials except where necessary for authorised use. This includes avoiding exposure in public repositories, public websites, screenshots, documentation, support tickets, client-side code or unsecured messages.
You are responsible for activity carried out using your credentials, except where caused by our breach of these Terms or by something for which the law makes us responsible.
If you know or suspect that any PMT credential has been lost, disclosed, copied, misused or accessed without authority, you should revoke or rotate it where possible and notify us promptly where there is a material risk.
5. Customer signals and customer responsibility
You are responsible for the systems, scripts, checks, jobs, devices, applications and processes that send signals to PMT.
You are responsible for:
- deciding what each signal means;
- ensuring that each signal is accurate enough for your intended use;
- choosing suitable signal names, stations, values, tags and cadence;
- testing your own scripts, scheduled tasks, checks and integrations;
- implementing retries, validation or confirmation logic where your use case requires it;
- monitoring freshness, absence and stale signals where relevant;
- maintaining independent controls for critical systems.
PMT does not decide what your signal means. If a script, check, device or process sends the wrong result, PMT may still receive and display that result.
6. Acceptable use
Your use of PMT must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
You must not use PMT in a way that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, excessive, unauthorised, misleading, security-compromising or likely to interfere with the Service or other users.
We may restrict, throttle, suspend or terminate access where use appears to breach these Terms, breach the Acceptable Use Policy, create security risk, create unreasonable load, expose credentials, affect other users, or place the Service at risk.
7. Data and privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal data in connection with PMT.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to send any data submitted to PMT. This includes obtaining any necessary permissions, notices, consents or other legal basis required for data relating to your users, customers, clients, systems or third parties.
PMT is designed for small operational signals. You must not send passwords, private keys, API secrets, payment card data, confidential file contents, unnecessary personal data, health data, regulated data or other sensitive material unless your use has been properly assessed and appropriate safeguards are in place.
You should use opaque identifiers where practical and avoid putting unnecessary personal, customer, system or security information into station names, tags, signal names or values.
8. Service availability, maintenance and changes
PMT is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We may publish service targets, availability aims or operational goals, but these are goals, not guarantees, unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement signed or accepted by us.
The Service may be interrupted, delayed, degraded, unavailable or changed for reasons including maintenance, upgrades, security work, abuse prevention, infrastructure faults, third-party service issues, network problems, load, partial failures or events outside our reasonable control.
We may modify, suspend, replace, remove or discontinue parts of the Service where reasonably necessary for security, reliability, legal compliance, abuse prevention, operational improvement or product development.
Where practical, we will take reasonable steps to give notice of material planned changes or maintenance, but we may act without notice where needed to protect the Service, users, data or infrastructure.
9. Fees, subscriptions and payment
Fees, billing periods, usage limits and included features are set out in your plan, order, invoice, checkout page or other written agreement with us.
Unless stated otherwise, subscription fees are payable in advance and may be billed monthly, annually or on another agreed basis.
You are responsible for paying all fees due for your account and for keeping billing details accurate and up to date.
We may change our fees or plan structure from time to time. Where a change affects an existing paid subscription, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users before the change takes effect.
If you do not pay fees when due, we may restrict, suspend or terminate access to the Service.
10. Cancellation and refunds
You may stop using PMT at any time.
If you have a paid subscription, you may cancel it in accordance with the cancellation method provided for your account or by contacting us.
Unless your plan, order, applicable law or a separate written agreement says otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal but does not automatically create a refund for any unused part of a billing period.
If we cancel a paid service without cause, we may provide a pro-rata refund or service credit for the unused paid period. This does not apply where access is suspended or terminated because of misuse, non-payment, security risk, breach of these Terms or breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to PMT if:
- you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- your use creates security, operational, legal or reputational risk;
- your use is excessive, abusive or harmful to the Service or other users;
- payment is overdue;
- we are required to do so by law, court order, regulator, infrastructure provider or security requirement;
- continuing to provide the Service is no longer commercially, legally or technically practical.
Suspension or termination may apply to an account, project, token, feature or the whole Service.
On termination, your right to access and use PMT ends. We may delete or retain data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, retention settings, legal obligations and operational requirements.
12. Intellectual property
PMT, including its software, code, design, interfaces, documentation, branding, names, logos and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors.
These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use PMT for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms and your plan.
You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, resell, sublicense or create derivative works from PMT except where expressly allowed by law or by a separate written agreement with us.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of PMT or our intellectual property to you.
13. Customer content and submitted data
You retain any rights you have in data you submit to PMT.
You grant us the rights needed to receive, process, store, transmit, display, secure, back up, analyse and otherwise handle submitted data for the purpose of operating, maintaining, supporting, protecting and improving the Service.
This permission continues for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, enforce these Terms, maintain records, resolve disputes, protect the Service, and operate backup or retention systems.
You are responsible for the legality, accuracy, quality and appropriateness of data submitted to PMT by you or through your credentials, scripts, checks, systems or users.
14. Third-party services and infrastructure
PMT may depend on third-party hosting, networking, database, security, payment, email, domain, analytics or infrastructure providers.
We are not responsible for failures, interruptions, delays, data loss, security incidents or changes caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control, except where applicable law makes us responsible.
Third-party services may have their own terms, policies and availability limits. Your use of those services may be subject to those separate terms.
15. No unsuitable use and no reliance
PMT is not suitable for every use case.
You must not rely on PMT as your sole mechanism for detecting, preventing, proving or responding to failure.
PMT must not be used as the primary or sole system for:
- safety-critical or life-critical systems;
- emergency response;
- medical, health or care decisions;
- financial transaction validation;
- legal evidence preservation;
- compliance or regulatory recordkeeping;
- security incident detection where guaranteed detection is required;
- any use where guaranteed delivery, accuracy, availability, completeness or continuity is required.
You are responsible for deciding whether PMT is appropriate for your intended use and for maintaining independent controls where the consequences of missed, delayed, incorrect or unavailable signals would be material.
16. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Subject to that, PMT is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, accurate, available at all times, or suitable for your particular purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or opportunity;
- loss, corruption, delay, incompleteness or unavailability of data;
- loss arising from signals being missed, delayed, incorrect, unavailable or not displayed;
- decisions made based on PMT signals, absence of signals, stale signals or displayed states;
- failure of your scripts, systems, checks, devices, networks or credentials;
- indirect, consequential or special loss.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with PMT is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
If you have used PMT without paying us, our total liability is limited to £100 to the maximum extent permitted by law.
17. Business user indemnity
If you use PMT for business, professional, organisational, client or managed-service purposes, you agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from:
- your misuse of PMT;
- your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- data submitted by you or through your credentials;
- your failure to secure tokens, PINs, accounts or access links;
- your use of PMT for a prohibited, unsuitable or unauthorised purpose;
- claims brought by your customers, clients, users or third parties arising from your use of PMT.
This section applies only to the extent permitted by law.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on our website unless another method of notice is required.
If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users. Your continued use of PMT after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us first and give both sides a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter informally.
